Our School's History

The Szent László Hungarian School was founded in 1960, shortly after the establishment of the Our Lady of Hungary parish. Ever since, the school has operated in the building attached to the Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church whenever classes are held in person. We have a very well-equipped kindergarten room and three additional classrooms at our disposal; one of the rooms also houses a small library.

In the early years, around 30 children attended the school, taught by four or five teachers. Many of those children stayed in the community and later joined the school's work as teachers or volunteers. Enrollment varies from year to year — sometimes more children sign up, sometimes fewer. To this day, both the teachers and the helpers work as volunteers.

From 1960 the principal was Sándor Murguly, followed in 1995 by Dr. Gabriella Horváth, who said farewell to the school at the end of the 2022 school year. Until 2010 Gabriella also supported the school as a teacher alongside her administrative duties. Since May 2022, the Szent László Hungarian School has been led by Emőke Madár.
